Clinical Care
Bringing Healthcare to Those Left Behind
Communities like those served by Amandla have historically been last in line for quality healthcare. Amandla's Clinical Care programme is designed to change that by embedding culturally responsive biomedical services directly into the everyday lives of community members — rather than asking community members to navigate formal systems that have long failed them. The clinical offering is comprehensive. It includes HIV Testing Services and HIV Self-Screening, PrEP and PEP provision, HIV Viral Load Monitoring and linkage to care, TB screening, STI screening and referrals, pregnancy contraception, and termination of pregnancy referrals. Outreach and demand creation are equally important: when young people are reached in the community, they are also offered health information and educational resources covering HIV prevention, condomisation, rights awareness, and more. The philosophy underpinning this programme is simple but powerful — that the end of the HIV epidemic is achievable, that the STI crisis can be reversed, and that TB can be stopped. The pathway to all of this runs directly through community.
